The government of Colombia announced it will host Monday the III Summit of the member countries of the Pacific Alliance, in which the presidents of Peru, Mexico, Chile and Colombia, will hold a teleconference to discuss several issues, using state-of-the-art technology.
A statement from the Presidency of Colombia, states that the meeting will be held Monday at 9:30 hours (14:30 GMT).
The meeting will gather the presidents of Peru, Ollanta Humala; Chile, Sebastián Piñera; Mexico, Felipe Calderon; and Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos.
“Taking advantage of the advances in technology and with the leadership of Colombia, which has a modern teleconference room, the Latin American presidents will be able to talk without leaving their countries,” the official text says.
The presidents of the member countries of the Pacific Alliance summit will be accompanied by their ministers of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
During the summit, the leaders are expected to approve the Framework Agreement for the Pacific Alliance, which will be signed in a new presidential meeting to be held in the coming months.
The proposal of a teleconference summit was presented by President Juan Manuel Santos, during a Pacific Partnership meeting in Merida (Mexico), December 4, 2011.
