There are interesting countries to invest in Latin America but some of them are too small, so investors mainly focus on Brazil , Chile , Peru and Colombia , said Walter Molano, the head of research at investment bank BCP Securities.
In his report The Emerging Market Adviser, he pointed out that Latin American countries have been able to recover from a slump triggered by the fallout from the collapse of U.S. investment bank Lehman Brothers.
"Forced to fend for themselves, the governments of the region managed to increase their foreign exchange revenues, bolster their foreign reserves and adjust their fiscal positions,” Molano said.
While Europe and the United States suffered the effects of this global financial crisis, such turmoil was not even an obstacle for Latin America , he added.
Molano noted that this process in Latin American is led by the 'jaguar' countries of Brazil , Chile , Peru and Colombia , which are closely followed by other countries.
He went on to add that Latin America has other interesting and dynamic economies such as Mexico , Costa Rica , Argentina and Uruguay ; however, nowadays most investors focus on the group of 'jaguar' economies. (Andina)
